There are several steps, elements and techniques that go into successful articles written for search engine marketing (SEM). The steps include creating lists of topics that incorporate your keywords in them, researching those topics and then writing the actual articles.  The elements include choosing keywords and structuring an article while using techniques that make readers want to read your article and complete your desired call to action.

Keywords and Relevant Back Links

A keyword is the word or phrase that you are trying to get the highest ranking for in the search engine results pages (SERP).  If you own an auto body shop in Medford then you'd want to place high for terms like "Medford Oregon Auto Body Parts", "Medford auto parts", "Auto Body shop Medford" "97504 auto repair" etc.  A keyword is not only one word, but refers to phrases as well.  It is the goal of the article to incorporate your keywords with information that readers will find interesting and enticing enough to continue reading and to then arrive at your site.  It is also a great way of generating links back to your site.

A good back linking strategy will have your keywords placed in the anchor text (text part of a link) at other sites and lead back to a page in your site with the same keywords. Here's an example:  You have an article which is at WordPress.com titled "Medford Auto Body Shop Wins Innovative Car Store of the Month".  In that article you have the keyword "Medford auto body shop"; the actual line the link appears in is:

The Medford auto body shop, Panthers recently was given the award for Innovative Car Store of the Month based on the number of cars they inexpensively retro-fitted with bio-diesel fuel using their patent pending process.

The link is under the text "Medford auto body shop" and the link goes back to their web site page where the actual content at the site has the same words "Medford auto body store."  It is our goal to create relevant back links which will help the search engines discover why your site should be in the top of the SERPs.

Getting Your Internet Marketing Articles Started

Making a list of articles at one sitting with the ideas you have for articles is a recommended way to get material for numerous articles at one time. You don't have to actually write the articles at that time (unless you're inspired and want to), but you’ll have your master list made up and ready.  Sometimes it takes a little time to incubate your ideas and you may want to keep and add notes on what you want to go into each article.
If on the day that you are ready to write, you find that you have writer's block, just start writing about anything that goes through your mind for a few minutes and you'll start to see that shortly you will be able to write what you set out to – your articles based on your list and notes.  If all you can produce are 5-7 minutes a time for a particular article, do that and then go on to another article in your list.  Just try to work at least for 20-30 minutes of writing at a time.  After a few sessions you'll have a bunch of articles. Google loves WordPress.com

This is a case study one of the top social sites to post to, WordPress.com.  Correct use of this site will help raise your search engine page ranking much higher than a lot of other social linking and social information web sites.

Google really seems to love wordpress.com.  I don’t mean the blog you have at your web host or server, I mean the blogs hosted by wordpress at their site.  If you create a blog with some good information in it, it will be listed very high in page ranking.

Google search for the term "Reno Modern Luxury Home"

Here’s a real world example.  For Reno Modern Luxury Homes, a wordpress.com site was created as well with a blog title of Reno Luxury Modern Homes. A post named Reno Modern Luxury Homes For Sale was created as well.  The user name for the site is renohomes – It’s a good idea to have your user name contain keywords as well.  If you do a search for Reno Modern Luxury Home, you’ll see that as I write this the top 2 spots are the wordpress.com tag pages for tags put on that blog.  The 3rd and 4th links are the actual site.

Google Loves WordPress.com - Look at this Results pageIf you do a search for Reno Modern Homes, you’ll see that the first spot is the actual site itself which is RenoModernHomes and the #2 position is the wordpress.com blog post Reno Modern Luxury Homes For Sale.

Tags are incredibly important as you can see from the first Search Engine Results Page (SERP).  the first 2 listings are in fact tags that were created and put on the http://renohomes.wordpress.com blog.  The fist google listing is for the tag reno-modern-luxury-home-for-sale and the second is for the tag reno-nevada.  Variations on the searches prove fruitful as well.  Reno Luxury Contemporary Homes brings a page 1 position 1 and 2 of the tags used!  A search for Reno Luxury Homes brings a page 1 position 6 ranking. Adding a tag for the company Pavich and Associates brings a page 1 position 3 position in a google search, the first 2 are the Pavich and Associates company website.  All of this with one blog and 1 post.

Google truly loves WordPress.com

This post will be constantly updated with information about sites and blogs that do not use the rel=”nofollow” tag as well as other scripts that cause the same effect.

One of the more useful sites is the “Do Follow” Blog Directory.  I encourage you all to read up about follow/nofollow sites.
